Pro Sports in Vegas

Golden Knights, NASCAR, Lights FC and March Madness

March is the magic month for sports in Las Vegas, when the weather turns warm just in time for spring training games, NASCAR races and basketball tournaments galore. So get your game-face on and snag some tickets – it’s time to play ball and peel rubber.

Spring NASCAR Weekend 2019

First up in March is the 2019 NASCAR weekend when racing aficionados converge on the Las Vegas Motor Speedway from March 1-3. The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series kicks off on the first Friday, starting with the Camping World Truck Series. Saturday features the Boyd Gaming 300 races, and Sunday tops off the action with the Pennzoil 400. Don’t miss the Trackside Live show at the Neon Garage stage on Saturday, where you can meet race drivers and winners. Bring an RV for camping at or near the tracks, with shuttles, hookups and even a special Vegas Veranda campsite with a concierge and RV lounge.

Vegas Golden Knights

Who doesn’t love one of the newest Vegas pro sports teams, the Golden Knights hockey pucksters who won eight of their first nine games in the 2017 debut season? Home games geared up in February this year but are really slicing the ice by March. Score some tickets to see them face off with fierce competitors like the Vancouver Canucks, Detroit Red Wings, Calvary Flames and Minnesota Wild. Games take place from March 3-29 at T-Mobile Arena, which stakes a prime Vegas spot between Park MGM (formerly the Montecarlo) and New York New York.

March Madness 2019

If you thought betting was just for tables and slots, you haven’t paid attention during March Madness in Vegas. Plenty of folks are more than happy to wager on their favorite team in the NCAA college basketball tournament that kicks off on March 17 (which also happens to be St. Patrick’s Day). It’s one of the busiest spring events in the city, but don’t worry if you’d rather skip the crowds at the major sportsbook venues. Pretty much all the neighborhood pubs and even some restaurants will be live-streaming the games on big-screens across the Vegas Valley.

Las Vegas Lights FC

Lights FC, the “other” pro team settling in with a home base in Vegas, kicks the Spring Training season up a notch in March. Pro soccer games take over Cushman Field every Saturday evening. Root for the home team when they shine against rival United Soccer League teams from Austin, Oklahoma City, Portland and Salt Lake City. It’s a family-friendly day out, and tickets prices start at just $15 for the grass berm areas.
