Orange County is notorious for vibrant art communities, but the spring season has an energy of its own. Fine-art galleries take a back seat to literary and film events as well as more eclectic art forms such as couturière design. Nature even gets in on the action with floral art and design contests.

Saturday, April 13, 2019
San Clemente Community Center
Garden festivals definitely highlight Mother Nature’s art, but this one also lets humans lend an artistic hand to the spring season. Gardenfest in San Clemente puts on Container Design contests, such as the “funky container” challenge to “think outside the pot.” Just scour your home or a local thrift store to find objects that can be repurposed as plant containers – and then let your imagination fly. There’s also a painting competition and a floral design contest for creatively containing and displaying nature’s own art. While there, you can pick up some new plants or unique items at the garden flea market. There’s no charge for the event.
